I had such an inspiring time this October at the 2023 PRINTING United Expo in Atlanta! Thank you to the team for organizing such a successful event and inviting me to present "How Digital Printers Can Work Effectively with Interior Designers" to attendees. In my presentation, I discussed how the design process of an interior designer works and how digital printers can work with them.
I also discussed the different markets in commercial interiors and what types of products fit into those markets. I believe strongly that there are so many possibilities in this market. I hope the information I shared was valuable to everyone who attended my talk.
When I wasn’t presenting, I enjoyed walking the exhibition hall and seeing what’s new in the world of wide-format printing. I came home so energized to see all the possibilities within the world of digital printing. As a designer, I felt like a kid in a candy store seeing these new and innovative machines in action!
Three significant trends stood out to me on the exhibition floor:
1- Texture
As technology has improved, so has the ability to print textures and create different 3D effects. For example, SwissQPrint used neon and metallic inks to create eye-catching images with 3D effects. Kornit was demonstrating a printer that emulated embroidery for a rich and textured look. Dimense was printing glitter and showcasing embossed printing. These printers left me so inspired by all the possibilities they offer designers.
2- Sustainability
Consumers are demanding more sustainable products, and they want to know the details about how and what makes something sustainable. Thankfully, the industry is responding. I saw many exhibitors going into detail to explain how exactly their materials, inks, and machinery are more sustainable.
3- Commercial Interiors
I have been talking, writing, and speaking about the opportunities for printers in the interior market for years now. So, I was thrilled to see more printers addressing this market. Products such as wallcovering, window films, upholstery, and more were on display. Furthermore, printers were talking about how the materials met the requirements necessary for commercial interiors.
I left the show feeling so excited about the industry. It really is an exciting time to be in the world of digital printing! Thank you so much to the team who put the show together. And hopefully, I’ll see you all again at the PRINTING United Expo 2024 in Las Vegas.
If you missed my presentation at the Printing United Expo, I’d be happy to share my presentation with you.
