“Larger. More equipment. More people.” That was how Louis Ferrell, manager of the Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority’s in-plant, described PRINTING United Expo to IPI Editor Bob Neubauer when they talked at the show. He was there to find replacements for three wide-format roll printers and a flatbed. But he also made a few unexpected discoveries on the show floor. 

Larry D'Amico, director of sales, Durst, North America explains the advantages of the new Durst P5 500, a 5.25m “superwide” roll-to-roll printer for production of flexible materials. It made its debut in North America at PRINTING United.

PRINTING United Expo opened its doors last week to gather attendees & exhibitors from around the world for the first time since 2019.

Ronen Samuel, CEO of Kornit Digital, kicked off the “Future of Print and Personalization” keynote at PRINTING United by acknowledging that although the fashion/textile industry is old, it’s now rapidly transforming.

Alex Pery, CEO of Right Way Signs in Chicago, IL, has evolved the company from sign painting and murals into a wide array of wide-format digital printing applications, which has been enhanced by the installation of a Canon Colorado 1630 roll-to-roll printer. 

FUJIFILM has a “very clear strategy,” said David Burton, its marketing director. Everything is developed around proving the ROI, ensuring print quality, and working for the customer.

The blurring of the boundaries between the adjacent Kongsberg PCS and MultiCam booths isn’t accidental. Together, the booths showcased the wide range of equipment Kongsberg can offer after acquiring MultiCam in August of 2021.
