As PRINTING United commences, so does Women in Print’s third annual breakfast. This is an ideal time to step back and get back to the heart of SGIA’s Women in Print Advisory Council.
In every industry, there are still wide gaps when it comes to gender in the workplace. As a woman-led council, we’ve all faced those adversities that plague every workspace, and we want to be a championing force that changes them. Not only for all the women in the workforce, but for everyone who steps foot into the industry; no matter what race, gender, or creed.
When we met at the beginning of this year, we devoted a great deal of time figuring out why we were there. Each member reflected on similar thoughts — all summed up by the response of Rachel Rossman of the Graphic Media Alliance (formerly Printing Industries of Ohio and N. Kentucky), who said, “I want to learn from others and share my experiences with them. My goals are to reflect and amplify the voices of women in the industry, to provide solutions to the issues and obstacles they face, and to identify and promote a new generation of leaders, along with role models and mentors for tomorrow’s leaders.”
Her statement encapsulates every value that we hold with every decision we make.
Our primary purpose with this Advisory Council is to attract, connect, and empower every woman in the printing community — no matter what job title or career experiences they have. We want to provide a space where everyone can excel, fostering a community where ideas can be exchanged; issues can be resolved; and current and future industry leaders can network, learn, and succeed. So, if you feel strongly about closing the gender gap as much as we do, please join us. Everyone is welcome.
Our annual breakfast is tomorrow, Oct. 24 from 7:30 - 9:45 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at registration.
