FireSprint is a trade-only sign printer, creating signs and other graphics for the design, advertising, and printing industries. They ship 98% of their business out of Omaha, Neb.
The company was challenged to meet its customer’s needs — which were low prices, fast delivery, and great quality — along with providing a wide range of products.
They were losing money in online shipping as their existing ecommerce solution did not have options for calculating custom packages based on size, roll-based, or sheet-based. To calculate the cost of shipping, they compared it with the different shipping providers, then gave the quote to the customers.
Many times, after sending the shipment to the reseller, the company realized the quoted shipping cost versus actual cost had a huge difference. So, they were losing shipping cost on the majority of orders. And 70% of all orders they produced had to be delivered within two to three days. Having an online ordering platform with accurate printing and shipping was essential.
Gene Hamzhie, founder and president, FireSprint.com, contacted Radix Software’s OnPrintShop (Booth 12159) in 2016. Radix Software offered a custom solution designed around the company’s business processes.
OnPrintShop’s wide-format module set up freight shipping, package dimensions, and max weight per package for every wide-format product, automating the calculation and shipping using UPS.
“We do an audit every month, and compare our monthly charges from FedEx against what the website quoted,” Hamzhie explains. “The platform is spot on every month. This is a big factor. If the platform is wrong, then we are going to lose money.”
OnPrintShop’s Web-to-print solution has helped FireSprint automate order processing, which has helped them with thousands of man hours estimating print, shipment costs, processing, and growth with the same team.
“The platform’s built-in full-
dimension calculator provides accurate shipping costs. Estimating shipping costs for the variety of products, materials, and sizes that FireSprint creates can be daunting. To get an accurate rate, it has to provide UPS and FedEx with the right dimensions,” says Hamzhie.
“Partnering with OnPrintShop is still one of the best decisions we ever made,” Hamzhie continues. “This year alone, we have grown 48% in revenue. This wouldn’t have been possible without the technology and support OnPrintShop continues to provide.”
