The Vomela Companies, which transforms creative ideas into high impact visual solutions, will dedicate their new 300,000 square foot headquarters on St. Paul’s East Side, and unveil the city’s largest solar array at an outdoor celebration Tuesday afternoon.
Joining Vomela leaders to mark the occasion are St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, St. Paul Port Authority President Lee Krueger, Carlson School of Management Dean Sri Zaheer, Archbishop Bernard Hebda, and Sanneh Foundation Founder Tony Sanneh.
“Vomela, which started in St. Paul more than seventy years ago, is committed to the community,” said The Vomela Companies President & CEO Mark Auth. “This facility greatly improves our workflow and efficiency and provides more opportunities for our 300 local employees.”
The company will also unveil the largest rooftop solar array in St. Paul. The project is 1.3 megawatts DC, 960 AC and consists of roughly 3,400 panels. The system could power 200 average Minnesota homes and will provide roughly a third of total usage for Vomela's facility. Each year the solar array will offset roughly 2,400,000 pounds of CO2 (1,200 tons), which is the equivalent to planting 48,000 trees. Impact Power Solutions, who installed the array, will plant 1,350 trees in honor of Vomela's solar commitment.
The general contractor, RJ Ryan Construction won the 2019 NAIOP (National Association for Industrial and Office Parks) award for project of the year in the Industrial Build to Suit for The Vomela Companies new headquarters.
