Charlie Taublieb, Owner of Taublieb Consulting and Chairman of the Academy of Screen and Digital Printing Technologies (ASDPT), inducted the newest members to the Academy at the 2018 SGIA Expo.
The first new member is Graeme Richardson-Locke, Technical Support Manager for FESPA. Richardson-Locke has been working in the print industry since 1984, and has been directing print production in screen, wide-format and offset printing in both the POP and graphics spaces. “I am always amazed when reading the bios of our newest members to see the impacts they have had on the industry,” Taublieb said. “For Graeme, it was finding out that he worked on processes for photochromic, thermocromic and fragrance printing techniques, as well as in garment printing.”
The second inductee was Alan Howe, a Technical Specialist with SAATI Americas (Booth 121). Howe has worked in this industry for 31 years, with a passion for training and education. He served as a judge in the national SkillsUSA competition, and has worked as a speaker for many educational sessions at conferences around the country.
In addition to the two inductees, Taublieb also presented the Dave Swormstedt, Sr. Memorial Award, an honor given to the author of an outstanding technical article published in the previous calendar year. The honor this year went to Mark Coudray of Coudray Growth Technologies, for his article on optimizing flash curing.
Best in Class recipients who were recognized by the Academy as eligible for consideration for the Swormstedt award were also presented with certificates at the ceremony. These included:
- Johnny Shell, VP, Print Technology & Training for SGIA, for his articles on screen room automation and digital textile inkjet printing
- Debbie Thorp, Business Development Director at Global Inkjet Systems, for her article on direct-to-object inkjet
- Eileen Fritsch, freelance writer and a founding editor of Big Picture magazine for ST Media Group and Great Output magazine for the Professional Digital Imaging Association, for her article on whipping data into shape.
