Tech on the Show Floor
One of the best parts of SGIA Expo is the opportunity to see for yourself, live and in person, all the latest technologies in action, from every major vendor, all in one place. When it comes to wide-format offerings, there are a wide range of them this year. Here is a sneak peek at just a few of the booths, equipment and software you’ll want to make sure is on your “wide-format must-see” list at the show this year.
Alliance Technology Corp. (Booths 755 and 2101)
“Alliance Technology Corporation will have on display UV coating machines and UV coating liquids that provide a durable, low cost solution to protect printed material from abrasion, graffiti, and other elements that may cause damage to unprotected materials, adding to the life cycle of the product,” says Bob Leidlein, VP Sales & Marketing.
FUJIFILM North America Corp., Graphic Systems Division (Booth 1529)
“Experience live demonstrations of the all-new Inca SpyderX, a hybrid UV wide-format press, making its North American debut, designed and manufactured by Inca Digital,” says William Rongey, Manager Corporate Communications. “Attendees will also experience the North American debut of a new B1-format (27.8 x 39.4 inches) inkjet printer, the Onset M, developed to offer a high quality, short run solution for commercial print applications. The Acuity LED 3200R, a superwide-format roll press for high quality displays offers maximum productivity in its CMYK configuration. Rounding out the Fujifilm booth will be the Inca Onset X3, high productivity UV flatbed printer, with a maximum throughput of nearly 10,000 sqft/hr, equating to 180 beds per hour (126.8 x 63 inches). Attendees will also experience the Acuity LED 1600 II, along with the Acuity Select.”
Mutoh America Inc. (Booth 2545)
“Check out the UV-LED printers,” says David Conrad, Director of Sales and Marketing. “These are great to get you into specialty printing and industrial applications. The new Mutoh ValueJet 626UF desktop UV-LED flatbed printer is ideal for printing specialty items like promotional pieces and custom products. It’s also ideal for industrial badges, signs and manufactured components.”
Oki Data Americas (Booth 2233)
“Troy Downey of APE Wraps and other ColorPainter Crew wrap professionals will be installing eye-catching graphics printed on OKI Data’s ColorPainter wide-format printers. Come see our wrapping demos and workshops,” says Lou Stricklin, Director of Product Marketing, Industrial Business Unit. He also notes that Oki will have a range of wide-format products on display as well, including the ColorPainter M-64s, E-64s and H3-104s.
Roland DGA (Booth 601)
“Advanced technologies for dye-sublimation, eco-solvent and UV wide-format digital printing offer plenty of ways for PSPs to expand their product offerings, maximize productivity and increase profitability,” says Daniel Valade, Product Manager, Color Products. “Roland DGA is showcasing the cutting-edge capabilities of its inkjets designed for each type of printing. In addition, attendees can check out Roland DGA’s specially-formulated, cost-effective inks, and high-quality media offerings.”
swissQprint (Booth 1253)
“We are showing our new model, Nyala LED which is an extremely versatile printer featuring LED curing and including roll to roll printing,” says Petra Fetting, Marketing Services & Communication. “It is capable of doing unique applications such as 3D effects, optical and haptic varnish effects etc. The printer will cooperate with the loading/unloading robot called Rob. Together, they are a solution for unmanned printing.
Tekra, a Division of EIS Inc. (Booth 2711)
“At Tekra, we will have many film options available for customer to take a look at,” says Rebecca Fuhrman, Digital Market Development Manager. “We will have Backlit materials on display, as well as a few new featured products. Additionally, we will have a knowledgeable staff available to discuss their needs and how to select the right plastic film and process to overcome many of the issues they may have come across.”
