Summa (Booth 1861), a producer of cutting equipment for sign and display production, recently announced the acquisition of CadCam Technology Ltd. and its subsidiary GS UK Ltd. CadCam Technology manufactures highly advanced laser cutting and laser engraving machines. CadCam’s main markets are soft signage, garments and garment embellishments. It has major clients in the automotive, solar panel, sportswear and footwear industries.
Wim Maes, President of Summa America, expects the CadCam laser-cutting machines to be popular with sign shops that produce soft signage as well as textile companies that print, cut and sew garments in smaller quantities or custom garments on demand. The system also works with printed fabrics used for custom-designed upholstery.
Maes said one advantage of CadCam’s laser-cutting system is that it also seals the cut edges, making the pieces ready for the next step in production.
