Spectrophotometers are common tools in the printing and visual communications industries, and understanding them is a useful bit of knowledge for any printing employee or business owner. 2018 SGIA Expo will have a session explaining them to attendees and detailing the different types used in the industry. James Stoops, International Technical Representative at Nazdar (Booth 2941), will lead the presentation today at 9 am in room N115.
Stoops’ session will discuss how spectrophotometers are used in the industry, and will explore how the multiple types of spectrophotometers are used and what they do. It will also include an overview of common light sources and settings. With all this, there will also be real-life examples of their uses, and there will be a prism-based light show to demonstrate how spectrophotometers work.
Stoops has extensive experience with technical equipment in printing, including spectrophotometers. This experience has given him the knowledge to lead the session, as has his teaching experience. Additionally, Stoops has trained students in the coatings industry in five languages.
The session is for attendees of all skill levels. For the attendees that are new to the industry and the concepts that will be discussed in this presentation, there will be an introduction to color measurement to help them get a better understanding of what is being discussed. For the more advanced attendees, there will be a more technical presentation that will aim to help them decide if they would like to invest in spectrophotometers in the future.
