As of tomorrow, May 1, the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) is accepting applications for its steering committees and advisory councils for the 2019 - 2020 term. The volunteer leaders comprising SGIA’s committees and advisory councils offer essential knowledge and experience, ultimately contributing to the success of their peers, the association and the printing industry at large.
Working within the strategic framework established by SGIA’s Board of Directors (BOD), SGIA’s volunteer leadership collaborates with the BOD and the association staff to provide insight on established initiatives and community-building activities, such as conferences. They also serve as a source for new ideas and provide perspectives from their respective industries and market segments.
“Volunteers are at the heart of what we do as an organization,” said Melissa Ferrari, Senior Vice President, Member Services, SGIA. “From products and services to the value we provide, our volunteers connect us with the communities. They ensure we are supporting and meeting the needs of each industry segment.”
Although the committees and advisory councils primarily collaborate remotely, the SGIA Congress of Committees is held annually in January for the volunteer leadership to meet in person.
SGIA’s committees and advisory councils include:
- Apparel Decorators Committee
- Digital Textile and Décor Committee
- Graphics Production Committee
- Ink & Chemical Manufacturers Advisory Council
- PDAA Installers Committee
- Supplier and Manufacturer Advisory Council
- Sustainability, Safety, Health and Personnel Advisory Council
- Women in Print Alliance advisory council
- Young Professionals advisory council
Applications must be submitted online by July 2. The 2019 - 2020 SGIA committee and advisory council members will be notified in September.
