SENSOTEC Register Control Systems Chooses Matik as Exclusive Distributor for North America
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — February 7, 2019 — Matik, Inc. and SENSOTEC GmbH announced that they have signed an exclusive North American distribution agreement throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
SENSOTEC GmbH, founded in 1989, and based in Braunschweig, Germany, has been a leader in register control systems for narrow web presses — particularly for labels. Its German-manufactured SENSOTEC register control systems have been implemented in more than 1,000 presses worldwide. Over the past 30 years, these SENSOTEC register controls have saved more than 500 million running meters of waste paper and 16 million kilowatt hours of electrical energy.
SENSOTEC register control systems are particularly well known for their precision, stability and longevity. While SENSOTEC register control systems are included in many Gallus & Nilpeter presses in the U.S., they are also often installed to upgrade older presses to improve register stability and print quality on a wide range of substrates. The sophisticated systems use fiber optic microelectronic sensors that scan at each revolution and adjust registration simultaneously throughout the print run. The payback is very quick. Yet, despite the complexity of the systems, operation remains easy and intuitive.
For example, Gallas Label & Decal installed SENSOTEC automatic registration technology on its eight-color, all UV Gallus EM280 combination press. By using a SENSOTEC register control system, Gallas intends to experience reduced setup times and waste reductions. “The SENSOTEC system raises the bar for speed and accuracy,” says Gary Gallas, president. “Watching the process is remarkable. The system also works in harmony with label enhancements, such as rotary screen printing and foiling, which is critical to our wine, spirits and cosmetic label clients. It also increases our productivity, which means faster turnaround times.”
SENSOTEC selected Matik due to its reputation as a distributor that provides exceptional sales and service. The company prides itself in providing customers up-to-date factory parts with U.S.-based rapid-response service support. “We are excited to represent SENSOTEC. We have a lot of experience and knowledge in the label market. Of course, this was of significant interest to SENSOTEC management. We have seen SENSOTEC register control systems at many customer sites and are familiar with them,” says Steve Leibin, Matik president. “We believe that Sensotec will continue to develop new register control systems that will deliver even greater levels of performance. We look forward to working side-by-side with them.”
