Sawgrass Presents Production Flexibility at FESPA Global Print Expo 2019
Sawgrass will be presenting new, ground-breaking solutions for contemporary and long-lasting sublimation imprinting at FESPA Global Print Expo 2019, May 14 to 17, Messe Munich, Germany (B5-H19).
Only Sawgrass offers totally integrated systems, designed and developed purely for sublimation. Each system comprises a printer, a set of inks, a design platform and color management software plus top-rated support and education.
Each system has been designed specifically to work together to produce the best possible prints. It includes:
- The only desktop printers on the market engineered to work with sublimation ink. With three sizes of printers available – SG400 (A4), SG800 (A3+) and VJ 628 (25”/630 mm).
- Four formulations of SubliJet-HD inks – CMYK for the A4 and A3 desktop printers and three separate eight-color options for the VJ 628. These high viscosity ink sets deliver the largest gamuts of color for sublimation printing on the market, as well as deep, rich colors, neutral blacks, fine gradients and delicate skin tones.
- Virtuoso Print Manager color management software, with RIP-like production capabilities and incredible ease-of-use - this software provides preset print settings and manages color based on the specific characteristics of the printer, the inks and the media. ICC profiles are also available for use with popular RIP software.
- CreativeStudio Online Designer, which offers a continually updated intuitive and easy to use library of designs, product templates direct from the manufacturers – saving thousands in software and artwork purchases.
- Ongoing support and sales/marketing education through Sawgrass’ PartnerPlus and BusinessBuilder programs.
Even with the recent advances in outdoor substrates, market growth has been slow as most ink is affected by exposure to UV light, limiting the life of signage. With the Sawgrass Virtuoso HD Product Decorating System and ChromaLuxe EXT, customers can now create head-turning outdoor signs that really last. The result is unparalleled image quality and durability on UV resistant panels to bring vision to life outdoors. It is an ideal solution for high-definition signs, displays and photography and guaranteed to last, even in direct sunlight and comes with a 3-year fade-resistance warranty from ChromaLuxe when used with the Sawgrass Pro Photo Sublijet-HD inks.
Sublimating on cotton has long been the desire of product decorators worldwide. As the sublimation process only works with polymers, fabric decoration has been limited to synthetic fibers, and sublimating on cotton, the most popular and natural fabric in the world, has remained out of reach.
At FESPA 2019, Sawgrass will showcase how partnerships with Chemica, Forever, Poli-Tape and Siser are breaking barriers and giving product decorators new solutions and more options for making money with sublimation.
Sawgrass’ work with Forever has fundamentally changed the paradigm of sublimating cotton. Forever’s Subli-Light transfer media enable users to generate prints that can be sublimated onto cotton fabrics. Sawgrass collaborated with Forever to develop specific profile and print settings in Virtuoso Print Manager to ensure consistently vibrant and accurate color for each product.
A partnership with Siser will also debut a new global solution at FESPA that’s going to cause quite a stir. Siser’s EasySublimatte heat transfer material and Sawgrass’ specially formulated Siser EasySubli ink set, the throws wide open the door to a world full of color and cotton. This unique combination unlocks the potential of sublimating on colored polyesters, cotton, rayon and more.
When paired together EasySubli and EasySubli ink, along with the Sawgrass SG400 desktop sublimation printer, produce the brightest, most vibrant colors and best results. Additionally, Siser EasySubli Inks can achieve traditional sublimation jobs, so there’s no need to switch out inks between projects. The EasySubli transfer media and ink set are perfect for customized garments such as sportswear, fan wear and concert t-shirts, though the application list is limitless.
So, also on display will be advancements in finding the Holy Grail: sublimating on dark colors!
Sublimation inks are semi-transparent, which means that the color of the substrates they imprint upon will affect the final colors seen after pressing. Dark-colored fabrics, especially blacks, have long been excluded for use with sublimation for this reason.
This is no longer the case, with Poli-Tape’s SubliTwill and SubliFlock media, Chemica’s SubliTex media, all of which are now working with Sawgrass’ Virtuoso HD Product Decorating Systems and Virtuoso Print Manager software. Each of these types of transfer media allows users to print directly onto the media or sublimate the media from a transfer, then cut down to size with a plotter, weed and affix to fabric of any color with a heat press.
At FESPA, Sawgrass will also demonstrate in real-time just how simply personalized ChromaLuxe and Unisub products can be created and brought to market when it partners with Universal Woods EMEA.
Live personalization demonstrations in a shared area on stand B5 H19-G20 will show the quick and easy production of customized coasters, bookmarks, keychains, magnets and ornaments on blanks provided by Unisub. Visitors will experience the powerful effect of creating personalized products and how they can harness this in their own business operations.
Darcy Mauro, President of Sawgrass, states: “This real-life application area will allow visitors to experience just what they can achieve. They will be able to watch the creation process in action, witnessing just how easily and quickly personalized items can be produced. We will answer their questions and they will leave with a clear understanding of how they can incorporate sublimation into their business and the impact it could have.”
