Mimaki USA Announces UJV100-160Plus UV-LED Roll-based Printer
Mimaki USA announced the UJV100-160Plus UV-LED roll-based, power-efficient printer. This entry-level model offers improvements over the UJV100-160 model that reduce running costs, features application expansion capabilities, and improves operational efficiency. The UJV100-160Plus will make its debut in the Mimaki booth C2831 at PRINTING United Expo, October 18-20 in Atlanta.
Efficient energy use also reduces costs
In recent years, energy prices have continued to soar due to the global energy demand crunch. Increasing energy prices can directly lead to lower profits and loss of price competitiveness in corporate activities. Efficient energy use reduces CO2 emissions and can contribute to lower power costs. Consumers are becoming increasingly concerned about the environment and are more supportive of environmentally friendly products and services.
In the display graphics market, UV-LED printers are often preferred over other technologies for many reasons one of them being their relatively low-power requirements. With a maximum power consumption of 0.5kW, the UJV100-160Plus consumes less than half of the power of eco-solvent and latex printers on the market, helping print businesses reduce power costs and CO2 emissions.
Key features
The UJV100-160Plus is the definitive entry-level model for sustainable sign and graphics production, with low running costs, versatile output capability, and easy printing for everyone. It offers the same functions of the original UJV100-160 printer with the below additional three features.
Ink saving function to reduce running costs. This feature reduces ink consumption by up to 50 percent while maintaining the color balance of the printed design. Ink reduction levels can be set via simple operations using Mimaki RasterLink7 software, so there is no need for specialized knowledge or equipment for color adjustment.
Multi-layer printing function expands application range. The “pull-back” function rewinds the printed substrate allowing up to three-layer printing. Conventional printers support up to two-layer printing, but it can require defining specific ink configurations when the printer is installed, which can be difficult to change. The UJV100-160Plus printer offers the pull-back printing function that enables printing of both methods regardless of the ink color array, enabling print service providers to offer more application variety from a single unit.
Seamless integration with Mimaki’s cutting plotters improves work efficiency. Conventional labels and decals are produced by printing on a substrate and then using Mimaki Finecut9 cutting software to output the cut data. Now, users can output cut data directly from Mimaki RasterLink7 software to Mimaki CG-AR series cutting plotters, improving the workflow of finishing operations. This enables linking printing and cutting operations without the need for additional software to be installed on the RIP PC.
New PICT cloud-based printer status monitoring tool
In addition to the UJV100-160Plus printer, Mimaki is launching PICT, a cloud-based printer status monitoring tool, available for download from www.mimaki.com. PICT helps customers improve the efficiency of their printing operations and production management by enabling them to visualize the operational status and performance of Mimaki printers from a PC or mobile device, even from a remote location. The printer operation and ink usage results can be useful for maintenance planning, ink inventory management, and production load balancing.
Availability
The 64-inch (162 cm) UJV100-160Plus printer will be equipped with standard CMYK plus white and clear LUS-170 UV-LED inks. It is expected to be available for order at the end of October 2023.
