Keencut Evolution3: ‘I Would be Lost Without It’

I design, manufacture, and install all types of signs and related products. A large part of my business — Signworks, based in Scotland — is wide-format digital printing. With increased requests for signage during the pandemic, Keencut’s (Booth N1101) Evolution3 has speeded up production while ensuring accuracy.

For years I have trimmed my prints and PVC signs by hand using a good straight edge and sharp blade. In this industry, attention to detail and first impressions are crucial. You seldom get perfect results cutting by hand due to the straight edge or print shifting. You must also consider the inherent dangers of using a sharp blade so close to your fingers. I tried the Evolution3 SmartFold at an exhibition, and it was just exactly what I needed for my business. The features and functionality of it are very clever. I purchased a 3m (124") Evolution3 SmartFold and a bench to cater for the increased work.

The Evolution3 SmartFold fitted my needs perfectly. It can be folded down to clear my bench and then returned in seconds for immediate use. I have maximum flexibility with the integral cutting strip for textiles and fragile materials, and the range of QuikSwap tool heads for general cutting, creasing, and fabric cutting. The tool heads can be attached or detached from the cutter in seconds. You can also mount single or multiple tool heads to suit your work, so everything is there ready for use. The new Lift-and-Hover technology clamps everything securely, and by using it and the sightline strip, I can quickly and accurately align materials. The single-handed Lift-and-Hover operation is fantastic. The Evolution3 is also guaranteed to cut within 0.2mm (0.008") of a straight line for the full length of the cut. 

The Evolution3 took hardly any time to set up, as I watched the detailed instruction video on Keencut’s YouTube channel. As soon as I started to use it, my production speed increased significantly. I was getting perfect cuts every time with no wastage.

Having owned the Keencut for around seven months now, it has most definitely established itself firmly in my sign shop, and it’s used almost every day. I honestly would be lost without it. Furthermore, I love how Keencut looks to the future by innovatively creating new products that can help people like me move forward.
