New Direction Partners, the leading mergers & acquisitions resource for the printing and packaging industries, today reported that it represented Holland & Crosby Limited in its recent sale to Transcontinental Inc. Holland & Crosby is a manufacturing company specializing in the printing of in-store marketing products, including advertising displays and signage, for North American retailers. Located in Mississauga, Ontario, Holland & Crosby employs 85 people.
“We first worked with Peter Schaefer of New Direction Partners back in 2014 when we first attempted to sell our company,” explained Scott Crosby, Vice President of Sales & Marketing of Transcontinental Holland & Crosby. “At that time, we were unable to locate an appropriate buyer, but we were very impressed with Peter. Not only does he have a ton of industry experience and is a very knowledgeable individual, but he is very good to deal with, has strong communications skills, and is extremely well-connected. It made a huge difference to us because we were dealing with someone who understood what we did and was able to assign value to our company based on his experience.”
New Direction Partners was originally referred to Holland & Crosby by a Dallas firm that had been successfully sold with representation by Schaefer. “We took that recommendation to heart,” Crosby added, “and we were very pleased with the outcome.”
Crosby notes that TC Transcontinental had reached out to him and his partner, Richard Labiuk, to determine if they were interested in being acquired. “We are not getting any younger,” he says, “and we were definitely open to the opportunity; but we knew we needed professional assistance to make sure our interests were well-represented.”
TC Transcontinental was looking to enhance its offering in the vertical of in-store marketing product printing, according to Crosby. “They took our company lock, stock and barrel,” he says. “I believe they plan to drive even more volume through our building than we were doing with our two-shift operation. This acquisition allows both companies to offer their current customers a new array of innovative products. TC Transcontinental was interested in the fact that we do a lot of permanent décor signage and installation programs, in both hard and soft signage, and they will benefit from that expertise.”
Crosby will continue in his role with the TC Transcontinental Printing team. “I’m still very involved in the industry,” Crosby states. “I just took on the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors at SGIA, and I still have a lot of gas in the tank. I’m excited to be staying on, excited for our future together now that we have joined TC Transcontinental and hoping I can add some value to the overall operation. I am grateful for Peter’s help in consummating this important transformation of our business.”
