One of the first sessions at 2018 SGIA Expo details the possibilities in today’s world of digital printing, specifically focusing on thermoforming. The discussion will be led by Mike Plier, Business Development Director at EFI (Booth 301), and will be held today at 9 am in room N117.
The presentation will discuss the value of direct print thermoforming applications. It will start with a general overview of thermoforming, allowing people who are not as familiar with the field to get a basic understanding. Later, it will go into the opportunities thermoforming can create and how it helps improve a company’s products.
“Whether it be point-of-purchase, automotive, signage or pan face applications, the message is clear: with the capabilities of these highly specialized inks and printers, the opportunities and economic benefits users will enjoy are unlimited,” Plier says.
New printers and inks allow companies to take on a wider variety of jobs. The specialization of the inks and the improvements of the printers allow jobs to be done with less waste and less set up time. These factors are ones that Plier will explore during his presentation. He believes these improvements make “the opportunities and economic benefits unlimited.”
“This is the most disruptive technology to be introduced into the direct-print, vacuum forming space in the last 50 years,” Plier says. “Companies who aren’t investing in digital right now are going to have a hard time competing!”
