Boosting Consumer Engagement with Monochrome Inkjet Imprinting for Flexible Packaging
Brands strive to connect with consumers, and seek smarter segmentation to improve execution on their promotional programs. Print can be a key enabler to accomplishing this goal. To engage consumers, TY Technology deploys variable QR and 2D barcodes on flexible packaging. Activated codes are then linked to big data analysis that provides brands with the insights they need to segment their target markets.
Eastman Kodak (Booth 11938) configured a near-line solution for TY that integrates inkjet imprinting into existing finishing operations. Gravure-printed rolls of pre-preprinted film are loaded onto a fully automated TY transport, where variable content is printed in-line using KODAK PROSPER S10 Imprinting Systems. Built-in quality control features identify potential defects and remove them before packages move into distribution.
TY uses the system to deploy two different barcodes: one for package tracing, and another for promotional purposes that requires consumers to actually consume the product in order to scan the QR code inside.
For this application, the system prints on flexible packaging made from PET and VMPET; it could also be used for flexible labels, flow wrap, and packages using OPP, BOPP, and VMCPP.
