Many printers are looking at packaging as a way to increase revenue and press utilization. And for good reason — the packaging industry in the U.S. is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.1%, during 2019-2024, according to a report issued by ResearchandMarkets.com.
However, migrating from a print shop that is focused on commercial work to one that also produces packaging work is not the easy fix printers might imagine. Despite similarities in production equipment and process, packaging can be a very different business model than commercial- and marketing-driven print.
In the session, “Preparing for Packaging,” Steven Rice, EFI (Booth 8233) Director of Business Consulting, will explore these differences and the impacts across each department of the business. ”From customer structure and expectations through order management, production planning, and distribution to billing, we'll look examine the differences imposed by packaging and identify steps you can take to prepare your people, processes and technologies for entry into packaging,” says Rice.
“This session will provide anyone entering or contemplating entry into packaging with an increased understanding of business impacts and provide ideas and strategies for a successful entry,” adds Rice.
“Preparing for Packaging” takes place on Wednesday, October 23, at 1:00 pm in Room C145.
