Actega North America Showcases Importance of Coatings and Primers at PRINTING United
In its first year as exhibitors at PRINTING United, Actega North America (Booth 9352) is excited to form and strengthen relationships and showcase its solutions for both digital and analog printing.
With a steady stream of visitors on the show floor, what stands out for Kurt D. Hudson, global segment head, labels/key account management for Actega, is the mix and “quality of the customers is outstanding. And that’s really what we like to see.”
Adds Hudson, “If we can see a good, healthy mix of customers who are already customers who want to do new projects and new opportunities, building organically – yay and new people who come by that we don’t know about, or we know about but we’re not doing business with and we can discuss a specific opportunity and do project work from there - yay. And then you have your 10% that are tire kickers, and I’m OK with that because maybe in two years they come back and talk to you seriously.”
Actega’s focus this year has been with coatings and primers, and their impact on the aesthetic end result.
"Coatings and primers will continue to be essential components of digitally printed structures,” Hudson said. “At the end of the day, the print buyer or brand owner wants certain functional or aesthetic features that cannot be produced by digital inks alone. As an example, people say, ‘Oh, it’s produced with UV inkjet, they don’t need a coating.’ Well, if you want it to look the same you have to have a coating. Coatings and primers help create the solution that have the exact appearance brand owners demand, regardless of print technology - digital or analog.”
