2018 SGIA Expo New Product Showcase

Each year, the SGIA Expo is filled with new product introductions, first in North America unveilings and some of the latest and greatest equipment, software and consumables in the visual communications industry. And 2018 is no exception.

Over the course of the three-day show (Oct. 18-20), visitors will have the opportunity to research what they need in order to take the next step in their company’s evolution. EFI Optitex Software — Booth 301

EFI is featuring the release of the latest version of Optitex — a suite of 2D and 3D solutions that cover the full textile and apparel design lifecycle. New capabilities include an all-in-one avatar solution to better visualize garment behavior with a nearly infinite number of poses and sizes, an extensive fabric library, marker features and better shader alignment.

Expolinc Fabric Frame — Booth 639

Expolinc’s Fabric Frame requires no tools or specialized labor to setup. The magnetic connectors guide users to a smooth, stable and safe installation. The packaging minimizes shipping, drayage and storage costs. Options available include flexibility in sizes, backlit frames, counters and storage rooms with doors.

Mutoh PerformanceJet 2508UF — Booth 900

The Mutoh PerformanceJet 2508UF 4x8-ft. UV-LED Flatbed printer with its standard staggered four printhead design — field upgradable to six heads when adding white and varnish inks — provides high print speeds. It can print on media up to 4" thick and use the CMYK x2 or CMYKx2 plus white & varnish to create stunning applications with outstanding durability and color gamut.

Esko Kongsberg C64 — Booth 938

The 126" Esko Kongsberg C64 multifunction super-wide digital finisher is designed for signage, display and packaging applications. Its rigid traverse assures excellent precision with high speed, fast acceleration, high quality cutting and creasing — with a 3kW continuous duty high-performance milling unit. It fits all needs — rolls, sheets, corrugated and milling.

Canon Solutions America Océ Touchstone — Booths 1032 & 2037

Océ Touchstone software from Canon Solutions America for Océ Arizona 1200 and 2200 Series printers enable print providers to create dimensional prints. Consisting of free Adobe CC Photoshop and Illustrator extensions for designers plus licensed ONYX Thrive printer drivers, the software simplifies the artwork creation and provides a 3D preview within these applications.

ONYX 18 Software — Booth 1032

ONYX 18 is Onyx Graphics’ latest version release that includes new technologies for color accuracy, consistency and conformance to standards such as G7 and Fogra. It is compatible with iccMAX, the new ICC recommended standard for all wide-format print applications including textile and soft signage. This release also features the latest Adobe PDF Print Engine, a high-speed, high-fidelity print platform for increased consistency and reliability across proofing cycles.

KernowJet KlearWipe — Booth 1071

Kernow North America’s KernowJet KlearWipe is a PVC-free long-term hard-coat clear dry erase lamination film. The 2.95mil clear polyester film features a dry-erase hard-coat. Permanent markers will always be cleanable with standard solvent cleaners. Its coating has a unique scratch-resistance and can be used as an anti-graffiti film.

Fujifilm Acuity Ultra — Booth 1119

The Acuity Ultra from Fujifilm North America is making its North American debut. Available in 5 meter and 3.2 meter models, it is available with up to eight color channels, featuring a high-density, low film weight Uvijet GS Fujifilm ink. The ink, which is UL GREENGUARD approved, is designed to deliver the highest quality and is fully emission-compliant for interior graphic display work.

DGSHAPE LD-80 Laser Foil Decorator — Booth 1137

The DGSHAPE LD-80 Laser Foil Decorator from Roland DGA makes it easy to customize and enhance small acrylic, ABS and polycarbonate products with metallized and holographic foils. It comes bundled with METAZAStudio software that simplifies artwork design and output.

Epson SureColor F2100 — Booth 1414

Epson is displaying the new SureColor F2100 direct-to-garment (DTG) printer. Leveraging the Epson PrecisionCore TFP printhead and UltraChrome DG ink technology, it offers a system for producing high-quality prints at twice the print speeds of the previous DTG generation printer.

Durst P5 250 HS — Booth 1548

Durst is showcasing the P5 250 HS, targeted toward high-volume industrial production. Featuring latest MEMS nozzle plates powered by Durst proprietary data-path and electronics, the result is a high-speed printing system with ultra-precise drop placement and industrial level reliability.

3A Composites Sintra ECLIPSE — Booth 1767

3A Composites USA’s Sintra ECLIPSE is comprised of moderately expanded polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in a homogenous black sheet with low-gloss thin white PVC on one surface that is specifically designed for screen and digital printing applications. It is available in the 3mm, 6mm and 12.7mm thicknesses in 48x96" sheets in the one white facer/one black facer/black core color combination.

Kornit Storm HD6 — Booth 1815

Kornit Digital is demonstrating the Kornit Storm HD6 system for digital direct-to-garment printing. Using its NeoPigment RAPID Ink, it achieves better wash fastness, reduces ink consumption by approximately 30% and can deliver 45 impressions per hour. The system prints to a multitude of fabric types, including cotton and synthetics, using a single ink set, yielding superior, retail-quality hand-feel.

KIP Color Series — Booth 1837

The KIP Color Series systems with KIP ImagePro are designed for print centers that require high demand output, precise imaging and bold, expressive color fidelity. The CMYK dry toner system employed by the KIP Color Series produces 100% waterproof images suitable for outdoor applications, even in inclement weather.

Subli_COTTON — Booth 1949

Media One’s Subli_COTTON is a patented technology to sublimate directly to natural fabrics. It allows users to use dye-sublimation inks on cotton, rayon and blended fabrics. It is available in three thicknesses: 31gsm, 40gsm 55gsm and also in rolls.

INX Prodigy EGBA Ink —Booth 2149

INX Digital is introducing the newest addition to its Prodigy line of industrial and packaging application inks. EGBA premium inkjet ink cures by electron beam and its physical properties are optimized to jet from Xaar printheads, offering strong adhesion to a variety of traditional label material and film. Uteco’s GAIA printer is the first inkjet machine equipped with electron beam technology that allows for substituting lamination with surface printing.

Mimaki Tiger-1800B MkII — Booth 2161

Mimaki USA is showcasing the new Tiger-1800B MkII. This digital textile printer is available in two models: the direct-to-textile model and the transfer sublimation model. With a maximum print speed of 4,144 sq.ft./hr. and 1,200 dpi print mode for both models, this printer can cover a wide production range, from small to medium print runs. Other features include Mimaki Advanced Pass System, Nozzle Check Unit and Nozzle Recovery System.

Drytac SpotOn Floor 200 — Booth 2341

SpotOn Floor 200 from Drytac is a monomeric PVC film that is designed for short-term, indoor certified non-slip floor graphics without the need for lamination. SpotOn Floor 200 is compatible with (eco) solvent, latex and UV wide-format inkjet printers and available in widths up to 54".

Brett Martin Foamalux White Foam PVC — Booth 2531

Brett Martin is now offering Foamalux White, which contains a balanced blend of optical pigmentation to produce a brighter white substrate which optimizes reproduction capabilities for outstanding print clarity and quality. It is available in a range of thicknesses.

CWT Galaxy 160 — Booth 2373 & 2471

The CWT Galaxy 160 from CWT Worktools is a professional heat-assisted top roller laminator for self-adhesive materials. It is perfect for high quality laminating and mounting without air bubbles and defects. Users can mount images on panels, apply double-sided adhesive films, application tape and protective film.

Mactac ColorGard LUV Overlaminating Films — Booth 2539

With a new 3.2-mil clear PVC facestock that is known for its ability to eliminate color shifting and a 58-lb. smooth white Kraft liner, Mactac’s ColorGard LUV family of high-performance acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive films are available in a variety of surface finishes, including the LUV8000 Gloss Series, LUV8100 Matte Series and LUV8200 Lustre Series.

Neenah Coldenhove JET-PRO Active Wear — Booth 3581

Neenah Coldenhove JET-PRO Active Wear is an inkjet product for the athletic wear and synthetic fiber market. This product has a perfect blend of softness and stretchiness, “no-hand,” is breathable, and provides excellent color. It works on almost any fabric, but its best advantages are on stretch fabrics.

RICOH Pro T7210 — Booth 3601

The RICOH Pro T7210 flatbed was designed to bring low-maintenance reliability and ease-of-use to decorative printing. It supports substrates up to 4.3" thick with a print size of 6.9x0.5 ft. The device prints at speeds of 538.2 sq.ft./hr. during standard operation, further bolstering productivity.

American Printing Systems FLORA PP251UV — Booths 4527 & 4628

American Printing Systems, the exclusive distributor of Flora UV printers in the U.S., is showcasing the FLORA PP2512UV 4x8-ft. UV flatbed printer. It can print up to 100 sq.m./hr. with eight colors plus white and varnish on glass, wood, PVC, acrylic, foam board and carton board up to 10 cm thick.
