Weymouth legislators are responding to concerns being raised by residents about electronic billboards popping up in their neighborhood with what they say is little notice.
State Sen. Patrick O’Connor, R-Weymouth, and State Rep. James Murphy, D-Weymouth, have filed legislation that would require state officials to notify residents who live within 2,500 feet of a proposed electronic billboard within 60 days of a scheduled public hearing for a permit.
The proposed measure would also require the company to install light-blocking technology on a digital board to diminish unwanted glare in residential neighborhoods as a condition for receiving a state permit.
